ROOT CANAL TREATMENT

Not all cavities are created equal.

Smaller cavities can often be treated with a simple filling. However, when decay reaches the deeper layers of your tooth, it can irritate the nerves. This is where root canals come in. Root canals are the tiny passageways within the core of your tooth that house the nerves and blood vessels.

The inside of your tooth isn’t empty!
A soft tissue called the pulp, containing nerves and blood vessels, fills the hollow space at the tooth’s core. This pulp keeps your tooth alive. If the pulp gets infected, it can cause pain, swelling, and even pus-filled abscesses. Root canal treatment addresses this infection. The dentist carefully removes the infected pulp, cleans the canals within the tooth’s root, and fills them with a special material to preserve the tooth .
